The film ‘Vaxxed: From Cover-up to Catastrophe,’ opens in Sarasota on Friday:
Not surprisingly, the film is already being attacked in the pages of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune (SHT).
While written mostly in a sarcastic or mocking tone, Tom Lyons’ hit-piece seems designed to literally scare people away from seeing the film.
He writes:
Pregnant and new parents, beware: This movie is dangerous to your mental health and judgment if the toxin if [sic] not quickly dilluted [sic] by exposure to easily available facts and credible rebuttals. [errors on SHT website as of 9:25 pm on 6/1/16]
Fortunately, people who know more than Lyons on the subject of vaccination, have been posting comments to Lyons’ article on the SHT website.
For example, Anne McElroy Dachel, Media Editor of Age of Autism (http://www.ageofautism.com) provided important context. Here are some excerpts:
This article was focused on Andrew Wakefield, referring to him as “an ex-doctor,” despite the fact that no one can take away his medical degree so he is in fact, STILL A DOCTOR.
We’re not told that Jim Sears,MD, world-renown clinical psychologist Doreen Granpeesheh, PhD, Noble winning virologist Luc Montagnier, MD, former U.S. Congressman Dave Weldon, MD, Stephanie Seneff, PhD, and Rachel Ross, MD—well-respected experts were also part of “Vaxxed.” These are people raising serious concerns and calling for the removal of vaccine oversight from the CDC. Anyone watching the film couldn’t miss their frank and critical statements.

Tom Lyons needs to investigate the background of our vaccine program. The studies that are always cited as proof that vaccines are safe have each been shown to have ties to the vaccine makers. Many of them are actually done by the pharmacuetical companies themselves. You will never see the word “independent” in connection with any of them. Our CDC approves the vaccine schedule and is also in charge of vaccine safety. They literally have oversight over themselves. It’s also the place where hundreds of individuals have conflict of interest waivers because of direct money ties to the industry they oversee. The last head of the CDC, Dr. Julie Gerberding, a longtime denier of any link between vaccines and autism left the agency and went to work as head of the vaccine division at Merck.
The federal government conceded the claim of vaccine-induced autism in Hannah Poling in 2008. In 2011 it was revealed that the federal vaccine injury compensation program has pay off over 80 claims involving vaccines and autism.
Lyons made no mention of the fact that the vaccine makers have no liability for vaccine injuries and neither do doctors.

Lyons’ attack piece is simply more proof that the governing media, including the SHT, is incapable of examining the complexities of certain key subjects. It’s especially obvious in this case, when a film (‘Vaxxed’) has the temerity to examine an apparent cover-up by the CDC, as well as the safety of U.S. vaccination policy. Predictably, conventional outlets like the Herald-Tribune will either ignore the film, or present a distorted caricature of it, as Lyons does in his column. Given that the advertising revenue from pharmaceutical companies, doctors, govt. agencies, hospitals, and private schools (just for starters) keeps the governing media — including the SHT — afloat, this should come as no surprise.
Dr. Thompson and this entire CDC whistleblower controversy ‘did not exist,’ until ‘Vaxxed’ came to town
To the best of our knowledge, the SHT has never published even a single word about Dr. William Thompson, the CDC senior researcher who has hired a whistleblower attorney, and who claims that the key Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) “safety” study he helped to co-author, actually linked MMR vaccine with increased risk for autism, especially for African-American boys.
Unfortunately, this remains the case, because Lyons’ column did not mention Dr. Thompson by name (one of the main subjects of the film), nor any of these important details? Why?

Dr. Thompson claims that he and his fellow scientists actually had a shredding party! Usually, front page material for the “Sarasota Herald Tribune?”
Why haven’t we read about this scandal anywhere in the pages of the SHT… in 2014 when this story really broke open? Or, in July of 2015, when FL Rep. Bill Posey demanded, on the floor of the US House, a thorough investigation?

After all, how many THOUSANDS of kids are STILL getting that MMR vaccine… the subject of all those SHREDDED documents?
Yet Lyons reserves his outrage for a film that attempts to shine some light on this subject. A film that has been censored and suppressed at every turn:

What are Lyons and the SHT so afraid of? If the vaccines are as safe as their manufacturers and promoters assert, then why has the federal vaccine injury compensation program paid over 80 claims involving vaccines and autism, as was revealed in 2011, and over $3 Billion to vaccine-injured families to date?
In sum, readers of the Sarasota Herald Tribune deserve better.
